Chartered Flight or Train to Goa
Hi there,
My flatmate and I want to be in Goa for New Year's. We haven't booked our flights yet but would like a bit of advice on the following: (we will be flying from London) a) should we start thinking about booking our tickets and accomodation in Goa now or is it too early and I am just getting too excited? b) do you think the best option is to fly from London to Bombay then catch the train to Goa and how long is the train ride? c) can you book a flight from London to Goa and is the price way more expensive then if we did it the above way? d) I have started going into travel agencies about flights to Goa but I have had no luck so far. d) I also wanted to hear from people that have spent New Years in Goa. I don't want to go to the full all night rave parties.....just somewhere where we can relax, have a few drinks too many and meet some nice people and throw in some dancing! I would appreciate if anyone could give me their advice, thanks everyone!. This will be my first trip to India for 6 weeks and can't wait! Shareen ![]() |

Hi,was in Goa for last New Year and it was excellent. You won't have any problems on the entertainment front as there's something for everyone. We were in Anjuna which was meant to be pretty wild but we didn't find it o.t.t. All the best parties circulate by word of mouth and we went to a great one at Hilltop where there were some excellent tunes , there were also plenty of chai ladies if you didn't want to drink too much!
I scoured loads of holiday pages on the net and ended up flying to Bombay and then getting the train down to Goa (journey was aprox.12 hours,we got a 2ac sleeper so we could rest comfortably). There were no problems except my boyfriend had food poisoning on the train(don't eat any of the food for sale in the station!).Also you get to spend a few days in Bombay, real India! You really appreciate the relaxed atmosphere when you get to Goa. I don't think it would be wrong to book now,i'm not sure.We hope to be out in dec but haven't booked yet cos we're still franticaly saving! Good luck ![]() |

hi
a. yup i think you should start looking at making bookings - accom in the places you plan to visit. Dec-Jan is the peak of the peak tourist season in India so lots of the good places are often booked up right ahead. b. London-Mumbai is one option since it's an overnight train ride to Goa. that way you can spend some time in Mumbai before moving on to Goa. c. My Travel operates charters to Goa. I know of people who use the cheap fares to get to India and then break away from the toru. Not sure how you'l handle the return leg of the trip as you plan to be in India for a while d. Can't help with the parties in Goa. sorry ![]() e. you may want to look at visiting Kerala and other parts of South India too. (ok i'm biased cos i live in Kerala )have a great time in India and i hope you always have happy memories of your visit to my country. cheerio |
