IRCTC allows a maximum of 4 tickets a month. How did you get a fifth one????

well, you can book four tickets in a month.
And each ticket can have a max of six people.

So its basically one ticket wtih five people.

thanks

OK...you mean one ticket for five people = five tickets.

how did the booking come...five people different coaches or all of you in the same coach but different berths?

Case 1...deal with the conductor the first thing when you land at the station.
Case 2: ...negotiate with other passengers so as to exchange berths in such a way that all of you are together. This always works. People are considerate. Inform the Conductor once you made the switches.

Give some more info...like coach and berth nos.

ok, here is what we got:

1. three berths to the side (SL, SL, SU)
2. two berths on top (UB,UB)

well this happened to us two years ago between Delhi and Varanasi, and i tried to ask the fellow passengers, but no luck, and more over the encounter was not very good.

If at all possible, i will like to go to a ticket counter and try from there.

thanks

This is probably not a screw up Dan simply IR accomodating you where there was space!
I'm not sure you can change the berths once they've been alloted!
Your best bet is to have a word with the TT when you get on the train!

ok, i will talk to TTE, i guess that is the best thing to do.

More over it seems the seats are not bad, we get in the train late in the night and out by 9 am.

thanks for all the messages.

The "cabins" are adjacent, so you need not bother much.

@@@This makes it very clear you were late in making your Reservation. Had you gone early, you would have got all the Berths in a row, however, subject to other RLQs.
