Change of boarding point

I booked a ticket from ernakulam to panvel by rajadhani in 2AC. Now I wish to board from alappuzha which is a station before ernakulam. However if I book a new ticket I stand a chance of loosing my confirmed ticket. Is there any way by which I can get this done on my present ticket? Please help.

Change of Boarding point is possible between a booked station pair. As ALLP is outside the station pair, it is not possible. You have to travel between ALLP and ERS by some other train and then catch Rajdhani at ERS.

Hi all,

I booked a tatkal ticket today in Kerala express. By mistake our ticket was booked from trivandrum instead of Ernakulam from where we will be boarding the train. WE have booked the ticket at the booking counter which is not in the railway station. The Bookng counter person is not accepting when we provide him with a letter for change of boarding. Can we submit the same request at the railway station? Please help

CA Note - @madhav175, your post regarding changing of boarding point and the related posts have been moved to the existing thread on the same issue.

@madhav175: If the mistake is yours while filling the application form, there is little that the counter clerk can/will do. If it is his/her mistake, see the Chief Reservation Supervisor at the nearest station. Else atleast one person needs to catch the train at TVC, else the TTE will consider you as NO Show and allot the seats to others in WL.

If madhav175's ticket is Tatkal surely the boarding point cannot be changed as there is not enough time to give 24 hours notice. Or am I missing something?
The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

Blog 2013 Indian Railways ARP changed to 60 days on 1st May 2013.

Though any request for BP change has to be done 24 hours before, in this case because Tatkal opens 1 day before travel, it may be considered. I have not recently seen a case of BP change in tatkal. Used to be done when Tatkal was from Train Originating station and could be booked 3 days before.

The important thing is who is at fault for booking from TVC. If the customer wrongly filled in TVC, then it may be futile to even try, if the booking clerk made a mistake, it can be rectified by the Supervisor.

Thanks much for the reply Narendra and Dave.

The booking clerk offered to help, he says he knows the TT in trivandrum and he would for sure inform him about our boarding from Ernakulam. Hope he does it and it works

In the form we had written the boarding station as ERS, but somehow the booking clerk had selected TVM, maybe the default value in the list would be TVM. When we asked the booking clerk after checking the ticket he told us that for Tatkal BP change cannot be done, later when we checked it with others we were told it is possible, immediately we rushed to the booking counter with the letter for change, by then then time was up, since as you guys pointed , it has to be done 24 hours before the start of train.

Did you fill in as

From: Trivandrum
Boarding Station: Ernakulam

If yes, it was not required.

Please don't rely on the booking clerks words. If its not on the ticket as ERS, its likely to be lost.

You should try at the place where you made the booking. If he/she can't do it he/she will ask someone (generally the superior, where ever he/she is located) to do it. Primarily it is the booking clerks fault, so it is for him/her to resolve. Don't budge on that point.
