Change of Boarding Point for Tatkal e-tickets

Hi guys,
I booked a e-ticket under Tatkal scheme from Mysore to Mayiladuthurai even though my boarding point is Bangalore. But I mentioned during booking that my boarding point is Mysore. Will this be treated as no-show if I board the train at Bangalore? Pls advice. the confusion is due to Tatkal booking which will allow only end-to-end booking and need to be very careful with the boarding point.

regards,

It will be treated as no show, unless you inform them in advance.

Last time I asked if I can board at a later station(more than 5 yeras ago), they wanted a letter addressed to the station master!

You need to mention the change in boarding point in writing to the station master (as a safe bet to station master of both the original and intended boarding point). Otherwise you will be treated as no-show and seat awarded to waitlist passengers.

Question Go to the booking supervisor

You could approach the "supervisor" at any of the computerized booking centres with a copy of your e-ticket and the actual id [in original] mentioned therein. Fill up a reservation form and enter your details and PNR no. with the new boarding station clearly mentioned [you could caption it as "change of boarding station"].

The supervisor will ask to see your id and comply with your request and maybe initial the e-ticket. The supervisor's counter does not have any queue.... so go ahead.

It will buy you peace of mind at the very least.

The request for "change of Boarding Point" need to be submitted atleast 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the Train from the station, which is intended to be specified as new Boarding Point.
--------
However, no refunds for the untravelled portion of the journey.
======================
The IRCTC does "not" offers the following service:
----
9. Change of boarding point on reserved tickets (Available for I-tickets only at Railway Reservation Offices with permission of Chief Reservation Supervisor of that office).
===============
Please have a look at the following clause (**extracted from the Time Table):
......
"Under the Tatkal Scheme, ticket will be normally issued from the originating to the terminating station of the train. Any passenger wanting to book or board from any intermediate station will be issued these tickets from originating station to the destination of the train with the special permission to voard from an enroute station."
--------------
"However in certain trains, where exclusive tatkal quota has been earmarked from originating to intermediate/ intermediate station to destination station, the tickets shall be issued/ charged accordingly."
==============================
##My enquiries revealed that "Under E-Ticketing Boarding Point is NOT allowed including for Tatkal Tickets"
