Question can i take another train with same ticket

Hi,

i want to book a tatkal eticket for the train 2841 - coromandal express.

actually i want to get down at gudur in nellore district.

as this train wont stop in gudur, is it possible to get down at vijayawada (this train reaches vijayawada at 10.30 am) and get another train (Krishna express at 1.30 pm in vijayawada ) to gudur. i will be booking a tatkal eticket from howrah to chennai. so using the same eticket, can i travel in another train from vijayawada. i was confused this with the break journey concept of railways. please help.

Hi...yes this can be done...basically if you take a ticket from point A to D...and suppose you alight and point B along the way...you can continue your journey till point C...but the catch is that this is only for a unreserved ticket...so if you are travelling By 3/2 AC...you can't do this...neither can you do this technically in 3 SL...but I don't think you'll face a problem if you do board the 3 SL compartment. On paper, this can be done for a general unreserved ticket without any hassle.

No you cannot unless its a local train or a general compt.. You may be fined if you go by sleeper/AC of other train.
There are already many trains from Howrah to Gundur Jn. You can try those instead of Coromandal Ex.

But make sure Gundur lies on the same route as of Coromondal. Like if Cormandal passes from route A->B->C and Krishna passes from route A->Z->C (Z not lies in Coromandal path) then you will be fined for traveling a different route train without ticket.

HI Sarkar,

there are only 2 or 3 trains that are from howrah that stop in gudur. the other train is the coromandal which wont stop.

i will travel upto vijayawada in coromandal and then from there i will take general compartment of krishna. any more do i need to do for example, do i need to have any permissions from any one as it is an eticket ?

thanks

kumar

I don't know these stations...but if these are on the same route you can do it...just don't get into an AC compartment..you can board the 3 SL compartment (technically you can't as it is reserved to...but thats just for saying...you can board if you have an express train sleeper class ticket...) or just board the general compartment if the journey is short and you will have no problems. Also, downgrading won't be an issue...suppose till Vijaywada you are in a AC compartment...then you won't have any problems in the 3SL compartment...just don't occupy some ones seat.

##You can get down in Vijayawada, but you MUST purchase a separate ticket for your journey from Vijayawada to Gudur, because Break Journey is NOT permitted on Tatkal Tickets, like in normal tickets.

##Even if it had been a normal ticket, you need to pay fare upto Gudur (when the train do not stops) with Reservation upto BZA, so that you can 'continue' your journey in a connecting train.

##In other words, as per the prevailing Rules, the Break Journey Point (or) Change-over point has to be indicated at the time of purchasing the "Reserved Ticket".
