I don't think, you can do too much here. Just board the train and pretend that you haven't done anything wrong............keep your fingers crossed............hope that the TT doesn't go into much details..........

In my experience, if you're obviously a foreigner, the TTE doesn't usually ask to see your ID, and if he does, he's unlikely to check the number.

I've recently booked a ticket for 3 people and got one of the genders wrong. I can't see any way to change it without cancelling everyone's ticket and re-booking, but I can't see that it will really be a problem, so if it comes to it I'll just pretend I hadn't noticed.

I did that once with my wife. The TTE was amused.

My wife was not.

They usually don't look very carefully. Unless its a major mistake, you should be okay.

According to SoulCurry, the TTE's are a lot more strict on the details being provided.

I don't know if this applies across the board or primarily to locals.

But the bottom line is that if the ID card does not match the one you are showing (and you've put your location as Bangalore), you could easily find yourself either off the train or paying a hefty fee to be able to remain on the train.

Cheers

Since you've realized that it's the wrong ID card number, and if you have that wrong ID card, show it if the TTE enquires.
