Can I get Onward Ticket for?

From Vizag to Delhi via Raipur.
I would like to make this connection.
Take 8518 From Vizag to raipur and then 2823 Sampark Kranti from Raipur to Delhi.
Now the doubt being that 8518 also goes to Delhi (via a very roundabout route (taking 60 hrs from Raipur) thats why I am changing at Raipur.
So does the fact that 8518 would take me to my final destination (Delhi) sufficient to prevent me from getting the onward ticket for the connection I want?

You could get what you want, if you specify the trains while doing reservation!

Dear mehra,

##Who told you that 8518 goes to Delhi? Are you going by the schedule of this train? If so, you are mistaken.

##In the good olden days, there used to be VSKP-ASR Through Coaches which got attached to 8237 BSP-ASR Chattisgarh Express in Raipur. But these through coaches have since been withdrawn.

##After the withdrawal of the through coaches, there used to be a quota in 8237 for the passengers of VSKP-R (**excl.) Section, to travel to stations beyond Raipur, since 8518 terminates in Korba. I assume, this must have been withdrawn after the introduction of 2807 Samata Express.

##Even after the withdrawal of through coaches and also the Quota, the schedule of 8518 still contains the schedule of 8237 for R-ASR stretch!!!

Dear Mehra,

##Coming back to your query, you can very well ask for a ticket from Visakhapatnam to H.Nizamuddin by 8518 with RESV.upto Raipur and make onward reservation by 2823 from raipur to Nizamuddin.

##Incidentally, if you travel from Visakhapatnam to Nizamuddin via Raipur, Bilaspur, Katni, Bina, then you will be travelling for NZM-Raipur/1245Kms. + RAIPUR-VSKP/528Kms. = 1773Kms.

WHEREAS

**If you take 2807, you will be travelling for 1911Kms.
**If you take 2861, you will be travelling for 2097Kms.

Thanks for the info, Mr Prasad.
Only trouble with this connection is 5 hours wait at Raipur.

If you are familiar with raipur, could you suggest some way to while away 5 hrs except in a waiting room?

##I have visited Raipur only once.

##I have noticed lots of hotels & restaurantes which are in the close vicinity of Station & slightly far-off from the Station.
