International Credit Cards

Thanks for your information, falangsabai! You're right! They obviously accept Visa and Master Cards again which were not issued in India. Keep us posted on your experiences!

(From the page, on which we have to choose the payment gateway, we can currently gather the following information on payments by credit cards:

Visa/Master (Powered by icici bank):

International cards ( i.e. cards not issued from India) are not accepted
On clicking ICICI Payment Gateway, you can do transactions with all Master and Visa Credit cards (Not International Cards) / Debit Cards (If enabled by card issuer).
Enter your Credit Card Details and Click on the "Buy" Button.

Visa/Master (Powered by CITI bank):

For all Master / Visa / Diners CLUB Credit Cards (Also International Cards) issued by any bank.
On Click of Citibankpayment gateway option, you will be redirected to CITI bank’s page in which you have to enter your card details

Visa/Master (Powered by hdfc bank):

On clicking HDFC Payment Gateway, you can do transactions with all Master and Visa Credit Cards issued by any bank.
Enter your Credit Card Details and Click on the "Submit" Button after which you will be taken to the confirmation page.

Visa/Master (Powered by axis bank):

For all Master / Visa Credit cards issued by any bank.
On IRCTC’s website, after selecting your travel itinerary, please click on the "Buy" Button after which you will be taken to the Axis Bank’s SecureCode/ Verified-by-Visa capable Internet Payment Gateway’s Transaction Page. By selecting AXIS Bank’s Payment Gateway link as the payment option, you may transact with your valid MasterCard/Visa Card issued by any Bank in the world. You may also use any valid MasterCard Debit Card/ Visa Debit Card, provided the respective Issuing Bank has enabled the same for Internet Usage.

American Express:

For all credit cards issued by American Express.
On clicking American Express Bank Payment Gateway, you can do Transaction with all Cards issued by American Express Bank
Enter your Credit Card Details and Click on the "Buy" Button after which you will be taken to the ticket details page.

I have tried all 4 payment gateways today with no success

I have used my visa internationally for a couple of years now with no problems

I just rang my visa provider to make sure there were no blocks or problems with my card and they said there is nothing wrong at their end.

Getting stressed as we are travelling during Diwali time

makemytrip and cleartrip.com also declined my visa

having no luck today

Well I couldnt book so a lovely young man from the Ganpati Guest House in Varanasi has done it for me

I have 2 e-tickets to Agra and 2 e-tickets Agra to Varanasi in my hot little hands!

I was just worried about getting stuck somewhere because it's Diwali and all the trains would be full

He did charge me 300rp for his services, but i paid him via paypal and it took 5 mins and more importantly it was STRESS FREE

If i need anymore tickets I am just getting him to do it.

IRTRC should have a paypal option too

I've been booted with a UK card on both the IRCTC and makemytrip websites today. Is it worth trying cleartrip or am I going to suffer a similar fate?

Hey!

I'm in the same situation now, I've been trying to book rail tickets online via cleartrip & makemytrip but failed. So desperately looking for any other travel agent who can help me book them.

Do you have his contacts? Mind sharing?

Thanks and love,

Farhan

I've tried ICICI and CITI. IRTC declined both gateways. I've only got a Visa/Electron Debit card and no credit card so i'm not holding out much hope even on Clearmytrip etc.

Ouzodave, I just had the same experience - no luck with IRCTC, though much hair pulled and two hours wasted. Used both a debit and credit card and all the different banking portals but to no avail. What a slow and illogical site! Awful.

Then I tried cleartrip and it was like coming back home from the digital wilderness... it all made sense, was easy, and my debit card worked even though I was using the credit card facility. No problems at all, e ticket sitting in my inbox waiting to be printed.

Maybe the indiamike powers that be could put out a bulletin or something alerting people to use cleartrip instead, saving people a lot of hassle and stress?
