Can i board at different station in same city?

I have booked a confirmed Tatkal ticket boarding at Kacheguda station on train "tirupathi to new delhi". I wasnt aware that the train stops at secundrabad station which is a lot more convinient for me.

Can i board at secundrabad? I was told "kacheguda" and secundrabad come under one city. The train leaves kacheguda at 16.50 and arrives in secundrabad at 17.25. Will my seat be alloted to some one else in that 35 minutes?

My tatkal ticket doesnt have my name on it, just age and seat number. Is that normal?

You can board from Secundrabad.
Once I mistakenly made tatkal ticket of my brother-in-law from Jodhpur-Howrah, which actually should be Jaipur-Howrah.
Jodhpur-Jaipur is almost 6 hours journey.
He boarded the train with his family from Jaipur only and got his seat without any problem.

I think TT will not come before Secundrabad. They usually come after 8 PM.

If you have made the ticket from a reservation counter then your name will not be on the ticket.
But dont worry, your name will be with TT in the train chart.

There is no problem at all. Generally the reservation is canceled as a no show only after the train has crossed two stops beyond your original boarding station. So if there are no more than two stops between Kacheguda and Secundrabad, you can board the train. This is officially, unofficially you cna board it where ever you want till the TT doesn't discover it. If he does then your seat is alloted to someone else but only after the second stop not before that. .

Dear sash561,

##Even if it meant, spending some extra time, please go to KCG only and occupy your seat.

##The TTE who checks the ticket in KCG gets down in Secunderabad, from where another TTE will come.

Dear Sash561,

Dont bother at all. You can board the train in Secunderabad.

I have done this more than couple of times. So dont get hassled by all this.

Go to secunderabad and take your train. Enjoy your trip.

Regards

Thanks for clarifying VSP, I will board at "kacheguda". I was under the impression since both stations are in one city perhaps i could board in "secunderabad". I was wrong.

##There is a change of TTE for 2707 in SC. This means, the TTE who checks the tickets in KCG will get down in SC and another TTE will takeover the Charts.

##If the passenger do NOT turns-up in KCG, nothing prevents the TTE to allot this berth to another passenger.

##I will give you one example. A passenger booked his ticket from Malkajgiri to Srikalahasti by 7406 Krishna Express. This passenger occupied his berth in Secunderabad.

##But his Ticket was NOT checked by the TTE till BZA, and the TTE, while getting down in SC, reported this Passenger as "NO SHOW" (**This must have been done by the TTE who was incharge of the Coach from Adilabad to Secunderabad). Again, there was change of TTE in BZA, and the TTE in BZA allotted this berth to somebody else.

Thanks BSP, Secunderabad will be convenient for me. I am really confused now with all the conflicting suggestions. I am not sure as to what to do now.

Dear sash561,

What are the chances of this happening.

##Normally, they will wait upto Secunderabad. Abnormally, they DO NOT.:-)

Cant i tell the TTE that i was searching for my seat as its a Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge train!!

##You can, if the same TTE continues, but the problem is - there is a change of TTE in Secunderabad.

##This is a 17-coach Rake in KCG, to which Five High Capacity Parcel vans will be added in Secunderabad and there is a loco change from Diesel to Electric.

##All said and done, a fantastic train to New Delhi.

##As I have told earlier in another thread, I am leaving HYB on the night of 1.10.2009, otherwise, I would have met you in Secunderabad.
