I just booked tickets for my family as we are planning to travel from Ludhiana to New Delhi on 20/5/11. I booked the Paschim Express 12926 . There were 7 berths available in first ac at the time of booking. My ticket now says , Confirmed, and now 3 berths are available.
I have specified option of Lower Berth after names of all four of us.
Will we be alloted different cabins or a same cabin ? Is there any procedure to ask for all four to be put in the same cabin ?

1A seat allotment is done at the time of charting. And one cabin has only 2 lower berths. So if they go by your choice, you will end up in 2 cabins. However you are more likely to be in one cabin. There is no procedure to ask for the same cabin.

Sayush

This is funny. I would suppose that you were aware that 1st AC coach consists of:

1. 4-berth cabins (2 upper & 2 lower berth)
2. A couple of 2-berth cabins, called couple (1 upper & 1 lower berth).

If you wanted all 4 of your family to be in the same cabin, why did you ask for 4 lower berths?

If all family members have the same last name and appear to be one family (from ages & gender), you will most probably be allotted a single cabin for all 4 tickets.

Cheers

www.indiarailinfo.com

Go to the above mentioned website, type in the train no-select the train and click on train details.
If updated by any admin, the coach composition of the train or the coach positions would reflect on the top-right of the train's page just beside admin notes.

Thanks.

Whether a cabin is allotted for sure in 1AC for four passengers booked on same PNR

If I book a 1AC ticket for four members of the same family, shall I be able to get a cabin at the time of booking? Or we will be allotted seats at the time of charting? In the case of the second thing happening, is there any guarantee that we will be given a cabin?

You might get a confirmed ticket but cabin are alloted at time of chart preparation. It is not guranteed to get a cabin for all the family members together.

or you may also go to the railway station on the day of travel (4-5 prior to the departure time). Give a written application with valid reasons for getting a cabin.

Thank you so much for the suggestion. Please tell me to whom I should address the application.
