Break - Onward Journey

hi
I am new to this site.
I ahve doubt. I have to go from Kanpur to Visakhapatnam. But there are no direct trains. Or rather i want to take Rajdhani from Kanpur to Bhubaneswar and then another train(most probably East Coast) from there to Visakhapatnam.
What is the method by which we pay the fare for Kanpur to Vizag(telescopic) but book two tickets.
I feel it is not break journey as i am not stopping for more than 3 hrs at BBS.
So what is the term used for this kind of journey and can such a booking be done online via e-ticket

Dear Pavan,

Telescopic Benefit is NOT allowed, if one of the trains happens to be a Rajadhani Express (or) Shatabdi Express (or) jan Shatabdi Express (or) Garib Rath Express.
======
Hence, you must take two tickets - if you select Rajadhani for CNB-BBS Journey; and another by any connecting train for BBS-VSKP Journey.

Ok thanks
But my basic doubt is not clear. What do we call such a kind of reservation wherein i just take a connecting train.
And the second question- "Is such a booking possible online"

Maybe it's called Onward journey?

I use these tickets at times, I just book the journey as follows....

From - Kanpur
To - Visakhapatnam

Boarding at - Kanpur
Reservation up to - Bhubaneshwar

Then in the Onward journey section further down the reservation form, I put the details of the 2nd train.

This way, I get the benifit of telescopic rates.

I don't know if it's the correct way, but it works for me.

2 things though, this cant be done on the Internet, only when booking at a reservation office, and it cant be done for Rajdhani trains and probibly not for Garib Rath trains, these trains have different fare structures. (though I suppose it could be done if both trains were Rajdhani or Garib Rath)

I've also never tried it using different classes in each train, though I think this can be done.
