Booking Trains
Does anyone have any experience with booking trains through a travel agent? What are the typical charges for having a travel agent book the tickets for you? I am in the US and have been told by several GSA offices for Indrail over here in the States that they do not sell Indrail passes and that I have to buy them over in India. I'm considering having a travel agent book my tickets since according to irctc, my hotel (in Mamallapuram) is not in one of the covered areas. I was quoted $2 per ticket processing fee. Is that typical?

That's not that outrageous, especially if they have no money up front and have to presume that you are going to pay.
