it worked !!!
ive got my booking..
but I am on a waiting list.!!!
WL 24 / WL 19 ??
Does that mean that i am not sure to actually " travel"???
do I have to look for a back up? ( jet airways)
when do you actually know if you are going to " be on the train"
dont understand the " system " paid for something I am not sure to benefit from...!!!
it doesnt make sense to me!!

veronique,

It means that unless there are 19 cancellations till the date of your journey, you will not be able to travel.

You can keep checking the status of your waitlisted ticket on the same site on which you booked the ticket. Click on the "Enquiries" tab on the home page, then on "PNR status" from the drop-down menu. Enter your PNR no. and check.

Send a message via MSN to renedu
Every ticket I needed to book has a VERY long waitlist. I will wait until I get to Mumbai and go to the office at Churchgate and get it sorted. I carry a picture of me with Aamir Khan in my guidebook, that seems to open doors...Waitlist for the train to Delhi 284 WL!!!

I forgot where I read this from; but apparently each train sets aside a certain number of seats for tourists? if thats the case, are those seats automatically drawn from if you line if at the tourist line or you need to make some arrangement with the TTE?

hope you get on the train, veronique

Unfortunatly, there is no Foreign Tourist quota on this train, but keep checking to see if your waitlisted number comes down.

Its difficult to say if it will or not, it's not a high number, but it's a busy time of the year.

if i do get on the train..it going to be extremely packed dont you think???
is it worth it ? am I still going to be able to to find an empty place to let " legs my legs hang out while watching the scenery" ( like you ( steven ) advised) or is it going to be so packed that ..ill be stuck on my seat all the time in front of a black window..( after all i want to take the train to see the scenery between mumbai & goa)
what do you think is it worth it?

You will only get one person per seat in Chair Class on the Jan-Shatabdi, and nobody else.

That is provided you get a window seat ! For the moment, I feel you should be happy if you get a confirmed seat.

Swapping of seats can be made on the train, though its difficult to make any passenger swap his window seat with your aisle one !!

And yes, the windows are not black, they are of course tinted but do not prevent you from enjoying the outside scenery from airconditioned comfort.

Sitting by the open door with your legs hanging out is not recommended. Your life/limbs are far more important than the scenery outside !!

Of course you can see the scenery from the tinted window !

As for sitting on the roof, you seem to believe in throwing caution to the winds !! However, as you're not a Hindi movie star; and life is not a Hindi movie; its advisable to sit inside the coach on a proper, cushioned, push-back seat. The scenery will be the same !
