Booking Indian Rail Tickets from Abroad
Thanks Aarosh and Dave W for your replies.
I tried Firefox server for a change and got my tickets booked in no time.
For some reason can't get it done through Internet Explorer.
greetings Josefa

I received the SMS OTP from IRCTC in less than 12 hrs, but Cleartrip keeps giving me error message when I try to activate -- keep getting error message "Sorry, but we weren’t able to activate your IRCTC account. Please check the fields below and try again."
everything is correct so what gives??

If you attempted this just before posting here, it is likely that IRCTC is busy with opening day booking between 08.00 -09.30 IST. Try after 12.00 Noon IST.

Yes, it has been reported here Internet Explorer doesn't sit well with Cleartrip; or with IRCTC, which either. In fact it was reported so again just above
Anyway, glad you got it rolling

did you consider the time you tried may have something to do. As in #66 above.
Problem with IRCTC registration
I followed the step-by-step process described on the Seat61 website to apply for an IRCTC account, but the system keeps telling me they weren't able to process my IRCTC registration. Has anyone encountered the same problem? How did you solve it? Thank you!

Which browser are you using? There are many problems with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome seem to work well for most people.

I did it! After trying it again a few hours later, IRCTC finally accepted my registration. Then I continued through the process of obtaining a mobile verification code via email. Now I've got an active account on Cleartrip. Thanks!

now if only I could figure out why I get different info on the Poorva Express to/from Kolkata-Varanasi, but that's for a different thread....
