WL8 will come down and i'd be amazed if you didn't get a confirmed reservation by February.

But there's not too much difference between 2A & 3A.

I'd go for the 3A reservations.

I succesfully booked Delhi-Varanasi on the internet site, and had the tickets delivered to my Hotel in advance of my trip. I was surprised though when I received two email confirmations! It turns out that on one of my attempts I had made it all the way through the booking process to the last step, but was thrown off and did not receive a confirmation message. But I did actually get the booking. Not knowing this I tried again, this time receiving the confirmation message so....two confirmed bookings.

I will now go to the station in Delhi and cancel one set when I arrive, probably not too much of a problem but a caution to others. If I had checked my email before the second attempt I would have realised. Does anyone know the location and procedure for cancelling bookings in Delhi?

Thank

The tickets I'm going to request is for 2/11 Agra--Varanasi.
I'll arrive in Delhi on 2/4, and depart for Jaipur on 2/6 early morning.

I'm wondering which address should i put for personal pickup.... Do they allow personal pick up in Agra station?

oh... about 2A and 3A, I saw the photos on the website. I thought 2A is a little bit spacious with more privacy and security?

cheers,

Vicki

Urgent!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm in Delhi right now, heading to Jodhpur...I'm trying to get tickets from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer (through a travel agency) but it's already on a waiting list (like WL 12).

So my question is, what if a travel agency does the reservation for me, but there's no availability on that train...what happens????? (two options: if the agency is in Delhi or if the agency is in Jpdhpur)

Please, I need an answer as quick as possible!!!!!!

The WL will not change with respect to from where you are booking ( or thru agency/ yourself personaly etc)

When is the travel date. WL12 looks like a reasonable risk worth taking (ie chances of getting a seat / berth). Worst case, you can travel by that train in the unreservced class, if that is OK. My feeling is that you'll get a seat/berth from the WL12 position.

I'm trying to get the tickets for the 19th, Feb
The site says WL12/WL2....
Let's say that I don't get these tickets booked by the agency...how do I get a refund? (or maybe a ticket for the next day...)

WL12/WL2 is almost sure to be confirmed on 19 feb.

Credit card refund is done only to your card account (no cash refund across counter). Cancellation can be done by going to any reservation counters (not possible online).

I've just worked my way through the IRTC site, and booked 15 tickets for my wife and myself for travel between Chennai, Udagamandalam, Kolkata and Darjeeling in May. Most of them have come up as confirmed, with a couple of the shorter journeys (Mettupalaiyam-Coonoor and New Jalipaiguri-Kurseong) shown as wait listed 7/8 and 8/9.

I've seen references here and there to bookings being limited to a maximum of four per month.

Should I be concerned that despite this, my 15 bookings appear to have been successful? I'd hate to think all that work had been for nothing!

I think you can take confirmed as confirmed. The system does work. Have fun! But don't plan too much. Planning is antithetical to discovery, especially in India. Trust in your luck.

Truer words were never written. Last July I bought a Jet Airways air pass with seven flight coupons. By the time my three December weeks in India had ended, I'd used only two of them.

Try the general quota instead of ladies quota.

Well spotted Anders, I would have missed that one.

The General quota is already waitlisted (see below), but book your tickets as fast as possible, this waitlist is lowish and the tickets should be confirmed by the 12th.

WL 21/WL 16

This means that 21 people have been added to the waitlist, but 5 have so far cancelled, so the position on the waitlist is now 16.

There is no Foreign Tourist quota on this train.
