1. No. If you are willing to take the risk, TTE might allot your berth to the next RAC Passenger.
2. Yes. You can go to any PRS Counter and get the boarding point changed to SBC. TO know the procedure, kindly glance through some of the earlier threads.
PS:- AC Coaches of Mysore-Tuticorin are in a pathetic state. (Just for your information)

Thanks. Then I'll get the boarding point changed.
Are you saying sleep class is comparable with 3AC or even better?
I've tkt for both classes (as in 3AC I didn't like birth allocation) - I'll cancel the other one based on your feedback.

DipyamanI do not think that is correct. As I posted in another thread, one needs to go to the counter at the original boarding station to change the boarding to another station. That is what the counter person at KGP station told me.
Cheers

Sorry to disappoint you Sir, but according to the official circular, one can actually go to any PRS Counter and change the boarding station.

to be on the safe side, i think one should go with the written application to the main reservation center in a town where CRS sits, so that the change request can be endorsed by him before standing in line at the PRS counter...

If you have a copy of the latest Trains at a Glance take a look at page 297 where it states ".....submit a written request to the Station Manager at the original boarding station or contact any Computerised Reservation Centre, at least 24 hours before the departure of the train."
The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

Hi,
I have booked my ticket from Katpadi Junction but I need to change the boarding to Chennai. The reason I booked from Katpadi Junction is that there were available berths & there was a wait list from Chennai. Now, Can I change my boarding from Katpadi to Chennai. I jouirney date is after 3 month.

Last March I had a reservation from Datia to Patiala but we were in Gwalior and we wanted to board there.I go to the reservation center in Gwalior. The official gives me a piece of paper on which I have to write a formal request.
He warns me that I must handover a copy of the ticket and that I don't get that back.
He goes to the computer operator and the changes are made.
At the internet I print another copy of my ticket.

For boarding the train from Indore, I think you need to purchase a separate reservation ticket for any class from Indore to Bhopal. And when you arrive at Bhopal, you may shift to your berth already reserved from Bhopal to Howrah.

Well, I went to PRS center at Krishnarajpuram Station, Bangalore and they said boarding point change can be done only at Bangalore City Station. Is this correct - otherwise, I'll make another attempt at Indiranagar BDA Complex PRS center. I have booked a train ticket from Tirunelveli to Chennai this month. The train actually goes via Madurai. I had slight changes in my travel plans such that i need to catch the same train at Madurai instead of boarding it from Tirunelveli.
Can I use the same ticket, since i have reserved those seats right from Tirunelveli?
Should we inform the station master or TTR upfront that i would be boarding at Madurai rather than Tirunelveli? Otherwise the TTR might think we have missed the train and might allot it to someone else (this happens quite usually)
How can we alert them upfront on the different boarding point?
Thanks.

You need to go to a Reservation counter and get the Boarding point changed.
Submit a written request along with a copy of the ticket.
If you don't, then the TTE will consider you a No-Show and allot your seat to someone else.

Detail missing: Train from where to where? You can change Boarding point between the booked station pair only, not outside it.
In an E ticket, you can't replace ALL passengers with others. One passsenger from the original has to be there, ideally one with ID proof. If the 3rd person is of the same sex and age group, then no need to change the name on the ticket. Reason for saying this: The PRS clerk will not be willing to do BOTH BP change AND a Name change, either of them is easier.

Changing the boarding station?
I have gone thru this thread and understand that a change for boarding station should be submitted 24 hours before train departure.
I have a related question for which I couldn't find answer in the thread.
I hold a confirmed e-ticket (via irctc website) from Indore to Delhi with boarding at Ujjain. Now, I want to board the train at Indore itself. Do I still need to give a request for change?
What If I don't give any request and board the ticket at Indore? Will I be considered without ticket between Indore and Ujjain?
