Boarding Train at different station, but same ticket

I have booked a train ticket from Madurai to Chennai next month. The train actually goes via Trichy. I had slight changes in my travel plans such that i need to catch the same train at Trichy instead of boarding it from Madurai.

Can I use the same ticket from Trichy, since i have reserved those seats right from Madurai?
Should we inform the station master or TTR upfront that i would be boardign at Trichy rather than Madurai? Otherwise the TTR might think we have missed the train and might allot it to someone else (this happens quite usually)
How can we alert them upfront on the different boarding point?

Please let me know i havent been clear on my queries.

You can change the boarding station by just going to any prs counter (reservation Office) and fill the form for change of boarding station and along with the form give your ticket and now you can board the train at trichy. but change of boarding station must be done before 24 hours of actul departure of the train. as you have mention that you are traveling next month you have lot of time to change the boarding station. please note you will not get any refund for the portion not travel.

hi,

i have a similar enquiry..i have a reservation from palghat to tirupati in kerala express, but for some reason i want to board the train from the next station.i.e coimbatore..now in regard to this i have 2 quiries?

1) i may keep silent as iam boarding the train from the very next station( approx after an hour) and the TTE will most probably wait till the next station before calling it a NO SHOW and reallocating tickets. OR

2) i may go the the comp reservation cetre where the tickets were booked and get it changed. ( here my biggest worry and query is....I HAVE A CONFIRM RESERVATION AND NOW WHEN I WILL ASK THEM TO CHANGE MY BOARDING STAION WILL THEY NOT ALLOCATE MY BERTHS ACCORDING TO THIS NEW STAION? THE RESERVATION FROM THIS BOARDING STATION NOW SHOWS HUGE WAIT LIST BUT MY ORIGINAL BOOKINGS ARE CONFIRMED)

I have a similar query.

I have a confirmed I-Ticket from Madgaon to Mumbai on Janshatabdi Express. However, due to change in plans, I would like to board the train from Kudal and not Madgaon. Kudal is 2 stations down.

How can I change the boarding station on my I-Ticket? I do not mind paying for the whole journey.

Any help is appreciated.

##Since you have the Journey Ticket in your possession, you MUST go to the PRS Counter and request for change in your Boarding Point from Madgaon to Kudal, 24 hrs. before the scheduled departure of the train.

I do not mind paying for the whole journey.

##I guess, you must have already paid MAO-CSTM Fare.

Its a relief to know that I can get this done. However, by PRS i assume you mean a computerised reservation counter.

Is it possible to get this done through the reservation counter at Mumbai, or do I have to get it done necessarily at Madgaon?

And yes, I meant to say that I have already paid Madgaon-CSTM fare; and I dont mind not getting any refund for the journey from Madgaon to Kudal.

##In fact, you are NOT eligible to claim any refund for the untravelled portion when you change your Boarding Point.

##Yes, you can approach the PRS Counter either in Mumbai or Madgaon!!!

i have a eticket from delhi-madurai, I want to connect for the same ticket from madurai-tirunelveli as it costs much less than fresh booking, My currect train is up to madurai only on 18th and i have to change it from there, Is it possible to do this if i go to the reservation counter

Dear maddy,

The authorities have stopped giving telescopic benefit whenever a passenger seeks extension of his journey ticket. The Fare applicable for the extended portion of the journey will be collected.

In your case, the train terminates in Madurai. As such, you need to purchase a separate ticket for your Madurai-Tirunelveli journey.

My boarding point is KCG-Kacheguda and I want to board the train from the next station Secunderabad jn-SC which is 40 min from KCG.

Is it necessary to inform the railways?
