Best train journey in India?
Hiya!
Coming to India next month, first time. Landing in Mumbai. Love long train rides. Are there any recommended rail trips? Memorable experiences? Trains to avoid? Best regards, Nomadic |

Pathankot - Jogindernagar on the Kangra Valley Railway.
Kalka - Shimla by the Rail Car. (Unique experience) Mettupalaiyam - Udaghamandalam on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway. Mumbai - New Delhi by the 2903 Golden Temple Mail. Chandigarh - New Delhi by the Shatabdi Express. Pune - Mumbai by the Deccan Queen. It is said that the Mumbai - Goa rail journey by the Konkan Railway is great, though I've yet to travel this route. Wherever possible, one should travel by the Rajdhanis, Shatabdis and those trains designated as "Superfast", as these generally run on time. The other Mails and Expresses are slower.
