Best train from Mumbai to Pune?

I am wondering which lines are best for the trip from
Mumbai to Pune and what class is recommended - -
chair class? Also wondering if these are tix we should buy
in advance or should we just wait until we are in Mumbai?

Is the Deccan Queen the best way to go and would this
possibly sell out - - this is early January time.

Pune is a short haul, 3 hours or so, and several trains per day depart, as well as busses several per hour, so chair car is fine. if you can get your tix beforehand, all the better. If you're arriving by air and want to go directly, a taxi is another way.

It takes 17 minutes by flight to Pune from Mumbai. Jet Airways flies twice daily; once in the morning at 10.00 a.m. and then again in the evening at 4.25 p.m. If you book in advance, you will get tickets at a cheap rate.

If you are particular about train journey, then take 2127 from Mumbai which consumes 3 Hrs.7 Minutes to cover 192 Kms. - the second fastest train on this stretch.

The 2128 departs from Pune at 17.55 and reaches Mumbai at 21.00 hrs., thus taking 3 Hrs.5 minutes - the fastest!!!!

However, the most prestigious train on this sector is the DQ, as it is popularly called, which, however, consumes 3 Hrs.15 minutes in both the directions.
