Bangalore to Alleppey

Hi All

In a couple of weeks I am flying from Delhi to Bangalore and then need to travel to Appelley.

Having a hard time finding train or bus info and dont really wanna travel by public bus (really had enough of long public bus journeys)

Any tips?

Bangalore to Ooty by bus.

Ooty to Coimbatore (or Mettupalayam) by train, bus or car.

Coimbatore (or Mettupalaym) to Allepey by car.

What a great trip that would be, passing through the Madamulai Wildlife Sancturary on the way to Ooty, climbing into the Western Ghats, and down the other side onto the plains of Kerala...

The following train will cover most of the journey overnight....

Bangalore - Kerala

Train 6526 departs Bangalore City daily at 21:45, gets to Trichur at 07:50, Ernakulam Town (for Cochin) at 09:35, Kottayam at 10:55, Kayankulam at 12:02, Quilon at 13:10, Varkala at 13:44 and Trivandrum at 14:45.

Bangalore to Ernakulam -

2A (2-tier air con) = Rs 1096
3A (3-tier air con) = Rs 705
SL (Sleeper Class) = Rs 261
.

If you are travelling on a Thursday there is a direct train from Bangalore to Alleppey (starts at 6.45 or something), any other day you can take a night train to Kochi and a /bus from the station (one hour plus)

Then are many buses from Bangalore - including some sleeper busses, where you can lie down like a berth in train! Maybe you can feel ok in a air con volvo sleeper bus (but dont really know which operator has one, but there are many semi sleeper busses). You can board one around 8-10 pm in Bangalore and should be in Alleppy around 5-7 am the next morning.

Kallada, No1, Renuka, KPN, PKN, Shama are some of the main bus operators for Bangalore - Kerala route. But which one of them have Volvo sleeper is a question. I tried googling but with no success.

On the flip side if you are in Bangalore for a day or more, you can easily pick it up from any of the resellers all over the city. Infact there is one in the airport road as soon as you get out of the airport. It is called Ramya travels and would be on your right side in the first shopping area less than half a kilometer from Airport.

So Andy you have reached south from the north all the way continuing your "enjoying" & "getting amazed"
The train option given by Stevan is good instead of bus travel.

I am neither your dude nor your mate.

You were originally asking about how to get from Bangalore to Alleppey (and again, you have three threads running on it now). Only you misspelled it like many do, so I thought I'd kindly give you the right spelling(s) to help you get there. (btw Keep in mind that to do a web search for it, both names will often be misspelled, so the possibilities are practically endless.)

Houseboats there are all the game and it's hardly a very unique proposition, so shouldn't be hard to find. Hotels, ditto (try this site's Hotels Listings.) I have no specifics for you. (And I praise the days when there was no internet and one would just get moving already.)
