Question At Kalka, does the Motor Rail Car wait for the Howrah-Kalka Mail to arrive?

Hi guys,
Wondering if anyone could help me out with a doubt.

I've booked on the Motor Rail Car (Train No.101) from Kalka to Shimla. It departs Kalka at 05.10 AM and reaches Shimla at 09.30 AM.

A few questions:

1. Is this the train that looks like a bus and has a transparent ceiling?

2. I will be reaching Kalka by the Howrah-Kalka Mail (Train No.2311) at 04.40 AM. The Motor Rail Car departs at 05.10 AM. If the Howrah-Kalka Mail arrives late, does the Motor Rail Car wait for the Howrah-Kalka Mail?

Thanks in advance.

Yes the train that you are talking about has transparent fiber-glass roof. Deluxe Rail Motor Car is a holiday special train which runs during 1st May to 15th July, 15th September to 30th October, and 15th December to 15th January. It operates twice a day.
I know for sure that Shivalik Express/241 is the connecting train for Howrah - Kalka Mail, but not sure about Deluxe Rail Motor Car

Thanks for the info.
But are you sure the Rail Motor Car runs only from 1st May onwards in Summer? My booking is for 23rd April 2009. Then if this is so, could you give me any idea if the train I'm booked on is different from the well-known Motor Rail Car. Why this thought has entered my head is because my ticket says only 'Rail Motor' and not 'Deluxe Rail Motor'. Indian Railways is notorious for giving similar sounding names to different trains.
Thanks again

Answer to my question will soon be clear

I guess in a few hours, I'll soon know if the Rail Motor Car waits for the Howrah-Kalka Mail to arrive at Kalka. I am waiting at the Delhi Railway Station and they've just announced that the H-K Mail is delayed by almost 4 hours! :-(
Will update this thread tomorrow morning with the result...

For the record:
The Shivalik Exp. AND the Rail Motor Car both wait for the 2311 Howrah-Kalka Mail.

My train arrived 3 hours late and both trains were patiently waiting for the 2311.

Question Lend Me a Helping Reply......Plzzzzzzz

Hi

I will be travelling to Kalka this May by Hwh-Del-Klk mail. From Kalka, I will board Rail Motor at 05:10 AM. Can someone please tell me which platform does it leave from? And, how far do I have to walk to board this train after getting down from Hwh-Del-Klk mail? One more thing, does Rail Motor have pantry facility?

Hi

Thanks for the info on Rail Motor. I checked so may sites including IRCTC's to find out if Rail Motor would wait for the Hwh-Dli-Klk mail, in case the latter arrives late. Nowhere did I find the info till I stumbled upon your reply that it will.
Does this train have AC? How are the seats like?

Does this train offer a good view of outside? What about the toilet on board?

Hi friends
I'm glad my info was of use. To answer the above questions:
The platform for the Kalka Shimla trains start from a point just adjacent to where the Hw-Klk engine stops. Walk up towards the engine and you'll see the toy trains waiting on your right. So the time to reach them will depend on how far your compartment is from the Hwh-Klk engine.
The seats in the Rail Motor Car are comfortable, semirecline and offer an excellent view. The glass-topped roof also is a great idea but i think the curtains are drawn open only when it's raining or snowing. There is no toilet or pantry or air-conditioning on board the Rail Motor Car. About 1 hour 45 minutes after departure, it stops at the Badog station where there are toilets. There is also an old lovely British style restaurant where an amiable chubby lady serves delicious hot omlette and veg cutlets (not included in the train fare).
Hope this helps. Enjoy the trip :-)

Thanks again, Barochallo

I checked the route of Rail Motor from IRCTC's site and found Barog (the station you were talking about) has been deleted. It makes me a little nervous thinking about my options in case Nature calls

To all e-ticket holders

Friends, I have heard that if someone books an e-ticket, his/her name does not appear on the passenger list that Indian railway pastes on each train before departure. Instead, only the seat number appears on the list. Is it true?

Thanks in advance
