and now my new worry -refund from irctc

you nkow i really like the website which is very very userfriendly however in my excitement of booking tickets, id once encountered a failed payment for which i got a message that the amount would be credited back to my account. however, my latest credit card statement carries that amount and the bank has no knowledge of the failed transaction.

the customer care numbers of irctc dont seem to work. no one answers the phone. is it outsourced to any private provider ?

ive sent them an email but i dont knwo what will happen ?

anyone else had similar experiences ? steven, any hope for me ?

cheers
vij

Cancellation

Vij,

I had cancelled tickets once and the amount was reflected in my credit card statement after 3 months.
So patience is the key I guess.

Regards
sk

stormysky,

You are right on the cancellation part. I too have cancelled my tickets once and got the credit in my CC statement two months after cancellation. I even received an E-Mail from the irctc immediately after cancellation that my CC statement would "soon" be credited with the refund amount.

I am not clear about vij4all's case; he mentions a failed transaction. What is a "failed transaction" ? If its as we normally understand the term, then if the payment transaction has failed, his CC statement should not have received a debit. If he has received a debit, it means the transaction has not failed and ticket has been issued and delivered to vij4all. In this case the ticket will have to be physically cancelled to get a refund by way of credit in the CC statement.

Hope vij4all or anyone here throws light on "failed transaction".
