Agra train stations
Does anyone have any idea how long it might take to get from Agra Cant to Agra Fort station at about 5pm on a Monday (if that makes any difference)? And what's the best way - we have just under an hour to make a train connection (if the first is on time!!)

What's the first train?
I would say that platform to rickshaw then to other station and platform would be 30 minutes minimum.

I think you're cutting it a bit fine, even though Steven's estimate of a half-hour journey is (as usual) spot-on. Where is your train coming FROM? If Delhi, then maybe you'll be safe, as it shouldn't lose a half-hour in a three-hour trip (ours was about twelve minutes late)..... but if it's coming from some distant city......
Can you catch an earlier train, just in case? |

We're going from Gwalior to Agra on a train originating from Mumbai, the Punjab Mail no.2137 - so yes, it's rather optimistic to think it will be on time. We're then getting the train from Agra to Jaipur - there is a later train from Agra to Jaipur which we could get and an earlier train from Gwalior - the Chattisgarh Express. I suppose we could also think about getting a taxi from Gwalior to Agra...

Its 120 Kms from Gwalior to Agra, you could get a bus.
Alternatively, go to the station at about 13:30, buy a 2nd class (unreserved) single to Agra Cant, then get on the first train going to Agra, there are a few at that time of the day (or earlier) that have come a long way, so an individual train can't be relied upon. With your 2nd class ticket, go to a sleeper class carriage (there are loads of them on nearly all trains) and have a word with the attendant and pay the extra to travel in that class. |
