Here's a copy of a reply I gave to a similar thread.

It is possible to do the Agra - Pushkar leg overnight, but you need to be a bit adventurous.

Train 2307 (and 2307A) departs Agra fort daily at 19:55 and gets to Merta Road station at 04:36 (doesn't depart till 05:15), it's an early arrival time, but as the train starts it's journey in Calcutta it may easily be an hour or two late.

2-tier air con = Rs 857
3-tier air con = Rs 561
Sleeper Class = Rs 220 (not air con)

Follow the locals to Merta Town (about 15 kms), either by bus or local train.

Merta Town is about 50 kms from Pushkar on the road to Ajmer, I would imagine there is a bus at least every 2 hours if not more, also, you may like Merta Town.

I have not done this journey and am only saying what I would do; others may think it's not a good idea.

If you go for the bus,& they run quite frequently,
It's Agra - Jaipur (4-5hrs)
change jaipur for Ajmer (3˝hrs)
change Ajmer - Pushkar (˝hr)

I think seventies'hippy pointed the easiest way.
Bus from agra to jaipur (aircon) and then bus to ajmer, this will be the quickest way but if you want while in jaipur you can take an autoricksaw to do some sightseeing and then take the afternoon train to ajmer, can't remember the timetables but it take around 2'5 hours.
In ajmer there's plenty of buses to pushkar.
Enjoy pushkar!
