AC 3 Tier Help

I am traveling from Delhi to puri total journey time 32 ~ 34 hours approx

I booked AC-3 tier ticket on puroshottam express but ticket status is 34 RAC.

Can i travel in AC 3 tier with RAC ticket ?

Are they allowing waitlisting and RAC ticket to travel in AC compartments ?

Yes you will be allowed to travel with your RAC ticket but you won't get a berth for yourself to sleep. You will have to share one berth with another person which means you will have to spend the night seating.

Isn't drinking forbidden or at least frowned upon on Indian trains?

Drinking on board an Indian train is not permitted. Which does not mean it does not happen.

When are you travelling?

Chances are, you'll get a confirmed berth.

There are 6 RAC seats per carriage in 3-tier air con, so 3 cancellations (or unused quotas) and you'll all have confirmed berths.

Sorry, short of time, so can't explain in more detail or check out the puroshottam express to find likelyhood of cancellations.

thanks all for wonderful suggestions i canceled my Ac 3 tier ticket and booked AC 2 tier confirmed ticket.

Price difference 400/- Indian Rupee but now i can enjoy my travel

good choice! i've travelled on both AC 2 tier and AC 3 tier sleeper classes, and i liked the 2 tier way better than the 3 tier, and so didn't get on that again.

##As stated by Steven. one 3A Coach will accomodate only 6 RAC Passengers. I don't think there are SIX 3AC Coaches in 2802. My friend in Bhubhaneshwar, with whom I spoke just now, told me that there are only TWO 3AC Coaches in 2801/2802 Purushotham Express.

##For the purpose of record, 2901/2902 has got SEVEN 3AC Coaches. 2625/2626 has got 5 3AC Coaches. There are number of trains which have got FOUR 3AC Coaches.
