As a no show you would be entitled to a portion of your money back I think, so ethical well yes. Your fakes are no shows according to the rules of the game and two empty births in first AC will be quite sought after I guess.

Fare refund for no show is a no show business. If everyone followed the rules as they are in the Indian Railways, we wouldn't initially discuss the problem here,moreover we all would have followed the rule book. Practicality and Theory are two different birds when it comes to Indian Railways.

I dont understand why refund for not traveled passengers is thought of as being difficult or impossible. Ofcourse if you dont do what needs to be done and just expect a refund on the basis of your claim, it wont happen. When some passengers on a multi person ticket dont travel, you need that to be mentioned by the TTE and them file a TDR. Its a well established process and refunds take about a month because the railways need to get this confirmed by the TTE concerned. If you think its not worth your time, then of course you may forget it, but pl dont blame someone else for it.

Sasiurfrend, Be frank with the TC and tell him that you have booked 4 berths so that you can get the privacy. Since you have paid for the 4 berths, I don't think he would allot it to another passenger.

does the TT actually verify if each and evry person on the ticket is physically there? in 3A when a few of us were travelling he just saw the numbers on the tickets and checked them off even though 3 of them were near the door.

Ask for Coupe which has 2 Seats only, there are Coupe for 02 as well...

sasiurfrend may visit nearest station and discuss with the TTE his case and may ask the possibilities and rules! If chances of reallotment of the berths to other person is higher, I feel, he should go by air!
