Children under 5 years of age travel free. Those over 5 and under 12 are charged half of adult fare. So for your 5 year old son, you have to buy a ticket. He will be alloted a berth/seat as well.

The younger kids need to mentioned while booking the ticket, but they will not be charged, nor will their names appear on the ticket or charts .

The rules state that you must have a ticket for a child aged 5 years or over.
The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

Yoosuf, Booking never depends on one's requirement!

A person is required to follow the Rules of Land! As Narendra Sir has advised in Post #2 above, "Those over 5 and under 12 are charged half of adult fare", you will have to purchase half ticket for your son!

And, you would be required to enter the names of both the infants (though you would not be purchasing tickets for them!) in the reservation slip, while booking tickets for other members of team.
