3A status CNF, but no coach number

I AM TRAVELLING TO PONDICHERRY ON 23 SEPTIN PONDICHERY-BHUBANESWAR Express. WHEN I BOOKED MY TICKET 3 weeks back, the status was WL/CNF in 3A.

but, only, when i am checking the pnr status, its saying confirmes, yet no coach number is being shown. This is what i see in my e-ticket status..!! what does it mean ?

You will know the Coach Number on Monday night, because 2830 departs from BBs at 11.45 hrs. on EVERY TUESDAY!!!!!

Does she have to check the printed list put up in the Bhubaneswar station prior to the departure of the train for the exact Coach & berth,or can she know it beforehand by some way like PNR check in the Internet ?

Yes, if she does a PNR check after the reservation chart has been prepared she will find the carriage and berth details.

This has happened because a waitlist ticket was purchased, even though there had already been enough cancellations to turn the waitlisted ticket into a confirmed ticket.

Once you join the waitlist, you won't find out your carriage/berth details till the reservation chart is prepared, I think this is so the reservation supervisor can place all new confirmed passengers in the most appropriate berths (couples together etc.).

Check your PNR status online 3 hours before the train. by that time chart would have been prepared and you can see the coach number.

Else, being 3AC, there would be max 2 coaches - B1 and B2. Go to any of the coach and see your seat number in the list posted or in the reservation chart in the station.

it means that your ticket has been confirmed and you will get berth detils only after preparation of chart. it will prepare only before 2 hrs. you can get the details before 2 hrs.

Is this the same for all etickets....I was just coming on here myself to ask the same question .

I have my tickets booked for the Mumbai - Delhi sleeper but there is nothing for my coach or cabin number .
Can I find out the night before online or do I need to check first at the station ?

Yes this happens for all seats that are not confirmed when you reserve them... you can check the details upto 2~4 hours before departure... not the previous night...

so at the station for me as I would have checked out of my hotel by then .
Where at the station do I look , plus one other thing ~
how early can you board your train , is it there 5/10 mins or longer , any ideas ?

trains are positioned at the originating station upto an hour before scheduled departure... i remember only one train in chhattisgarh that could not be boarded at the first station...

dial 139 from any phone to check pnr status and seating details...

You can check the coach and seat number atleast 4 hours before the departure of the train. Click on the link below and give your PNR number.

As you would be boarding the train in the originating station, the train should be in the platform atleast 30-45 minutes before its scheduled departure.

For ALL THE TRAINS which depart before Noon, the Charts will be finalised on the previous day night.

The scheduled departure of 2830 in BBS is 11.45 hrs. I am damn sure, the Charts would be finalised on the previous day night.
