All--

Longtime lurker, very infrequent poster.

Anyway, in case you are a traveler with some money to burn, I just happened to notice that there is now a 1AC coach available on the Delhi-Jaisalmer Express (at least, there is in March... maybe there is right now as well... didn't check).

Unless I'm totally missing something, this seems to be a very recent change and I've not seen it posted elsewhere. As the lack of 1AC on this (very popular) tourist route has sometimes been lamented on this forum, I thought some might find this info useful.

Thanks for the info.

They must have added a 1A/2A combination carriage (10 x 1A berths and 20 x 2A berths) as the number of 2A berths has also increased.

They're alloting 4 x 1A berths for the Delhi-Jaisalmer sector and 2 berths for the Jaipur-Jaisalmer sector, the other 4 berths are in the HO quota (we can't book these).

If anyone wants to book more than 2 x 1A berths from Jaipur to Jaisalmer, let me know and I'll tell you how to do it.

Jumping the queue here. Santiagotano - if you feed in the station code 'GADJ' (the code for Gandhinagar) in 'plan my travel' section of irctc.co.in then it shows 4 vacant berths in 1AC quota from GADJ to JSM on train number 4059 (DLI-JSM express).

If however, you take the quota from JP to JSM then the available berths are two only!

That does mean that (in the strictest sense), you'd end up boarding from approximately 5 kms away from the main station (at Gandhinagar station) You'd still be very much inside Jaipur and actually in the proximity of developed areas such as Tonk Road / Bapu Nagar / Gandhi Nagar.

Steve, is that what you were going to suggest? Or is there a foreigner's quota that i cant even view ! This was an interesting problem so I couldn't resist jumping in ...

Please feel free to jump in, it saves me having to type it all out, and yes, that's exactly what I would suggest.

Info for others......'Gandhinagar Jaipur' is the last station before Jaipur, it's 5km from Jaipur station, but it is covered by the Delhi quota, and not the Jaipur quota.

Hi all and thanks for your help again,

I'd tried to buy them (GADJ-->JSM) and I was unsuccessful.

You know what? 1AC doesn't appear on cleartrip and others. But it does on IRCTC. So, I'm trying to buy them on irctc web page... 8 times... and I failed all of them !!!

arhhh... I don't know what happen here... I wrote to Customer Care of Indian Railways... and I'll tell you when I have an answer.

However, any idea? I haven't got a clue...

Ten times the same error...

they put always the same:

Dear Customer,

We regret that the booking of your ticket could not be processed at this time as the transaction with ref. No. 0242082065 was not authorised by your bankers. The failure may also be due to some sort of inadequacies in your card / bank account.

You may kindly try using another valid card / account.

However, before proceeding further, we suggest that you kindly check from your 'Booked tickets' history if transaction has already been booked by you
.

But it's not possible, I've talked with my bank and thre's no problems. Maybe, I'm not choosing the correct bank in the list when booking on IRCTC web page. You know, when there's a list of banks... I put CITI or ICICI ...

There are a few problems when people try to book tickets from abroad. This has been discussed in a few threads in Indiamike.

Indian TRAIN

Can I book train tickets on IRCTC website using International credit card?

http://www.indiamike.com/india/india...day-t114997/2/

Try using the Axis bank gateway if you see one. You could also speak with the bank which issued the credit card and let them know that you are buying tickets from www.irctc.co.in. In some cases the banks do not approve charges made overseas.

that does happen. I had the same issues trying to book JPR-Jodhpur tickets in end of June (most trains were quite crowded at that time). If you do so repeatedly at the same time, it wont work. Try on a different day / time and also make sure you're entering your internet banking password when using the gateway and NOT your Internet transaction password.

I'll keep you informed.

The availability for 14th July AC1 shows WL1/1 for the Delhi quota and WL5/5 for the Jaipur quota. I would like 4 berths, is it possible?

The reverse shows that there appear to be 6 seats allocated in 1A for Jaisalmer-Delhi (showing on 21st July).

On the 18th it shows WL3/3 ex Jaisalmer in 1A, avail 33 in 2A.

The situation ex. Jodhpur is regret WL/1, available 2 in 2A.
From Jaipur it is avail 1 in 1A, 22 in 2A.

I guess this reflects quotas as much as actual travel patterns.

On the Mandor Express, which originates in Jodhpur, there are apparently only 2 1A seats. How so few?
