1A vs. scenery
I want to travel 1A on trains around India on my upcoming trip. Yet I want to see scenery and the countryside pass by. I read the long train post on this site. It says windows are darkened/frosted. Does this mean the view is completely blocked, or partially blocked? If the latter, is it so much that you lose the enjoyment of watching the scenery?
I know I can travel in other compartments and am considering it. I'm just curious if 1A and scenery are mutually exclusive. Is it possible/enjoyable to travel in 1A and spend a good bit of time in the pantry car or by the carriage door? I've never taken a long-distance train in India. Just wanted to see what the best way to combine the two things I want: comfort and scenery. Impossible? |

Not mutually exclusive. from your seat you can look outside. You can open the door and stand their and enjoy the journey. Reserved compartments are connected and you can take a walk in the train to other classes and coaches.

If traveling alone 1A might get a little boring. But like gaurav said, you can always walk in the train and watch the scenery through the door.
I traveled alot in 2A. It's nice that you have a like a get away in your compartment, where no one will bother you

I've hung out between the doors, roamed around the train, came back to 1a.
I think you miss some of the people scenery when you travel on 1a. I never felt I missed the view in 1a. If I wanted to look, I'd head for the back door. |

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll try it out and then see if it indeed gets a bit boring. Thanks again for the tips.
