Limca and Mazaa both rule. But they are verry unhealthy really. And not worth a dime compared to stuff like Chicku Lassie or fresh Passionfruit Juice. Who needs soft drinks when you can have Fresh Carrot Juice or Papaya lassie for 5 to 15 rs?

Thanks, crlvlr. In ten years of traveling regularly to India, I have noticed that the native brands are diminishing in favor of the giants. It's harder and harder to find Limca, and correspondingly easier to find Sprite. Which sucks (the trend and the product).

Personally I love Limca, that bitter lemon zing is just what you need on a hot day!! For something different try one of our favourite "cocktails" Mazza/Slice mixed with soda very refreshing, local soda is best not Kinleys or any of the big names which have an awful taste and cost a lot more (local soda 2-3 rps) Of course a good ole fresh lime soda is still hard to beat! In answer to your question Nick there are still many small companies who produce cheapsflavored sodas just ask the locals many still won't drink the new fangled Coca Cola/Pepsi owned drinks preferring the cheaper local brands!! |

Dabur Real fruit juices are made from real fruits that have been picked from the best orchards the world over. They are power packed with a host of essential vitamins and minerals to keep you going all day long. Real fruit juices are all-natural juices with no added preservative. Flavors :-Mango, Orange, Pineapple, Mixed, Tomato, Grape, Litchi and Guava . Sizes :- 250 ml, 500 ml and 1000 ml

Well, if we are getting off topic and picking drinks that aren't "sodas", then I have to say I frequent Ganesh Fruit Juice shop everyday, for my fresh Mosumbi or Grape juice.

I used to love Gold Spot; was sad to not find it in India last year, but I suspect it has been gone a long time. BTW, Coke (and Fanta) were in India in the early 70s (in glass botles with Hindi and Urdu script on the side), then gone for a long, long time. |

welcome to the nimbupani club, WWUSA. nimbu pani or nimbu soda or soda sharbat. whatever be the variation, nothing beats it!
i am not a keen coke/pepsi enthusiast. they have become so omnipresent nowadays that no other options exist many of the time! one small aside - try washing your face with a chilled soda from a streetside vendor ( plain soda - not coke!) on a hot summer day! refreshes you in a second. of course you will have to manage the curious stare of the vendor ![]() |
