i have never been a big fan of marinda, it always hurts my stomach for some reason. if i want orange i stick with fanta. I overdosed on limca so i havent been a huge fan of that latley. i have never tried thumbs up but i havent heard good reviews. There is a mango drink i really like but i cant remember the name at the moment? does anyone know what it is? if i had to choose a favorite it would be a very cold limca on a very hot day.

Nothing to beat good old Duke's soda !! Wonder whether its still available !!

Among the aerated waters, one drink called "Sosyo" with a unique sweet/sour taste was my favourite !

mhays,
The best bottled mango drink was again Duke's - Mangola; is this the one you are referring to ? There is also "Taaza". In tetra packs, "Frooti" is the most popular mango drink.

Is Marinda the one that says 'contains no fruit' on the bottle?

What's the situation with regard to sugar free soft drinks now? I could only find diet coke in Goa a few years ago.

There is also Maaza mango drink that comes in bottles.

Campa Cola used to be the best before Pepsi and Coca Cola arrived. I found that Thumbs Up was always a cheap nasty tasting rival to Campa. Thumbs Up was like those really cheapo colas you get from supermarkets for 19pence for 2 litres.

Limca (with feni in Goa)I heard that most of the indian softdrink companies have been bought by pepsi and coke.. apparently when coke and pepsi entered the market, people still preferred limcas and thumbs ups etc., so they ended up buying the competition.

true that! among the few places in the world where coke/pepsi had to bow to local tastes! In fact their ads are targetted at the younger generation who don't remember limca et al before the MNCs arrived.
