Worst Meal??? Whoa I have many of them.

Let's see, the Momo's in a Tibetan restaurant in Mcleod Ganj. It was a rooftop place and quite busy. The Momo's were meat momos and I found metal shards mixed in with the meat. Still ate them though since I was really hungry and got quite sick.

Some pasta at Nicks Italian Restaurant where I found what appeared to be a 'hair ball' mixed in with the pasta. The kind of hair that winds up at the bottom of your shower. I got replacement pasta but still had to pay.

A day before a friend of mine in the same place found nails in his meal. Not finger nails, but nails you pound with a hammer.

So there isn't one that sticks out as the worst meal, but many.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Nick's Italian Kitchen, either. Everyone raves about it but there was always something a bit amiss every time I ate there.

Nice people that run the place, though, and the view down the valley's out of this world.

Like Ikuru, I can highly recommend the Hari Krishna restaurant in Puri. It was one of those days when nothing but a masala dosa would hit the spot (ever tried getting a masala dosa at lunch time in Puri? - don't bother) Having unsuccessfully enquired at 10 restaurants ( all claiming to serve dosa's), and suffering both exhaustion and acute hunger, I collapsed forlornly into the gloomy, vacant, interior of the Hari Krishna. Perusing the lengthy menu did nothing to raise my spirits. The waiter recommended a dish beging with K (sorry can't remember the name). A mixture of rice, curd, aromatic spices, fruits and nuts - truly phenomenal.

A long time ago I lived with family in Kerala during turbulent times and got involved in their family quarrels. I was told by a reliable source that one branch planned to poison me. By chance I visited and they offerred me a meal. My hard and fast rule in India, never refuse food or drink. I ate with little enthusiasm and a great deal of melancholy. But, hey the source was wrong and the action cleared a family reconciliation so..

I'm not doubting your experience - just trying to balance up a bad impression with a good one. As we know, for whatever reason, these things happen.

Id say that Place is allmost worth a visit to the east of India allone... Probably one of my best 5 star expiriencess I was living in a place where I used to eat Hari Krishna food often. And the taste of it is really Speciall and amazing (nothing I would dream of trying do at home), allthough that place is the BEST!

Cool thing youve been there! Dosas are cool to...
Best dosa I had was in a fancy veg place in Calcuta dont recall the name.(best veg place in calcuta according to the LP)

After a dodgey yak cheese, potato and tuna pizza in Manang, Nepal, I swore off pizza in that part of the world. I can't for the life of me imagine what I was thinking when I ordered it. I guess I just couldn't face another order of dal bhat.

last Feb in Khajuraho we went to a joint that was recomended. turned out the cook had left on emergency, and the owner just couldn't resist trying to rake in a few bucks from westerners by trying to cook himself. The result was so bad that I went into my "Raj Sahib" rage , and the guy was so embarrassed he said we didn't owe him anything. Alas, this incident turned out to be very representative of our experience as a whole in KJ. Except, of course, for the magnificent temples themselves . The car we hired in KJ for our expedition to Kalinjar and Ajaigar was an even worse experience than that meal, and made us appreciate Namaste India Tours all the more!

Worst meal in a restaurant in Gwalior , which gave me a high fever that lasted 5 days.
On top of that, i stayed in a room (too sick to leave) which seemed to be the favorite place of all insects in a few miles around .
I'll avoid Gwalior just for that, revenge...
