It might be the best of times or the worst of times...but it's the only time you've got!

Today is 'Jamai Sasti' [a special day for Bengali Son-in-laws... sorry I'm lost to translate it!!!
]
Well, in this day, Son-in-laws are invited by their Parents-in-law to attend their place for some rituals and of course for wrist-dipping-dine (Kabji dubiye kaoa!!!
.. as Bengalis usually eat with bare right hands)
So ... it's a day of eating actually [Bengali married guy's favorite day, indeed!!!
]
Special dishes are made for their honor..in breakfast, lunch, dinner, even with tea!!
... and one item is must - Elish (hilsa)... no Elish, no 'Jamai sasti'....you know, the Govt. also needs to take the issue seriously!!!
Have a look here :

Here are some Elish dishes-
Elish Vaja (fry, even the oil after frying the fish is used as a delicious item!)
Elish head cooked with cochu-shak (please help someone!!
)
Elish Jol (curry, sometimes with some vegetables)
Elsih with mustard seed, (sorse-Elish)
Elish vapa (steamed),
Elish Paturi (wrapped in banana leafs and then steamed)
Elish Biriyani (newly added item in Elish culinary).. but it's of not my choice!!!!
and Elish tok (a sour item of Elish)
And really, all are fabulous!!!

My favorite? The next one.

I find Indian sweets can be verrrrry sweet - solid sugar sometimes!
I like a gulab jamoon after a spicy meal once in a while though. Also some of the ladoos are tasty.
