Just wondering if someone could tell me if it is necessary to tip in India? If so, how much?

Yes, tips are very necessary and appreciated. 10 rupee notes are standard tips. Amounts are up to you.

My guess is that 10rs might be a little too much is some places, and more appropriate in others..
