The Mirchi kaa pickle is highly recommended. Although in the coming summer months, I will have to forgo Thechaa and Mirchi. Do you know of a better Thechaa? Which one do you eat? Branded? or village product home made types? Quote:

Oh my gosh, AvidTrekker - after I read your post I spent about 30 minutes on youtube watching all of these people eating whole bhut jholokia. Some of them are pretty traumatic I'm such a sissy, I can hardly eat a curd chilly without doing a funny dance of pain in my chair. Maybe IM'ers can have some sort of chilli eating competition to see who reacts in the most bizarre way! C |

I stay away from food that hurts.
But I bit on a green chilli in one of my wife's curries once (we'd made and taken it to a friend's house in England) and I really didn't know what had hit me! It felt like someone had punched me hard in the mouth. I didn't identify it as chilli taste, or chilli hot, just as some sort of asault, like biting on a mouthful of wasps. I guess I danced about a bit! |

Brishti; isn't there a big danger that, if you eat stuff like that and then light up, you might explode?
I'm worried now ... |

Last month I was in Washington D.C. and visited the Botanical Gardens there. Found some really small plant's with really small red chilis on them. The chilis were about the size of a fingernail. As I'm a chili freak, I snatched a handfull when no one was looking. Man, were they hot.
Definitely the hottest I've had. Don't remember what the plaque said as to their scientific name, but maybe it's the same chili. |

The green chilli 'thing' that comes with thepla is quite tasteless. Try it, you will find out for yourself. Ditto for the green chilli 'thing' that comes with fafda and other Gujarati snacks. My previous Marathi maidservant would make a yummy chutney by very coarsely pounding green chillies with garlic, tamarind and adding a dash of rock salt. Simply divine and went with everything. Try it. Its really out of this world and so simple to make. |
