'Pappadoms' at 24 y 29 in Punta del Este, Uruguay. Food is customized for the local palate, so be sure to ask for "extra hot".

I know it's not indian food, but when you talk about restaurant in montreal, one always comes to my mind: Schwartz's. It's a hebrew restaurant that serves smoked meat. It's not for veg, far from it, but god it's good. The Rolling Stones even flew scpecially to montreal just to go there. Not to miss in Montreal. And all people from Montreal at IM will back me up on this for sure...

For Indian in Montreal do try Pushap Sweets, although it is purely vegan, the food is as good as the food in India and a complete meal for two costs less than 15CND and the Samosa's to go are a cheap and tasty. This is probably the most authentic place I have tried in Montreal. Last edited by indiamike : Sep 21st, 2005 at 16:09. |

Here in Ottawa there's Light of India in the Glebe and Shafali Cafe on Dalhousie. Both are fantastic little places, but the prices are a little high, though the quality is amazing. Another good place is Nagina on Rideau which offers daily lunch and dinner buffets for a reasonable price, plus the owners are really nice and friendly and often remember you on your next visit

In London at the end of Oxford street nearest the London College of Fashion (nothing to do with me) there's a little place called Kerala which is very authentic and fanatstic lunch menu. Enjoy

Should you find yourself in Penzance, Cornwall the best restaurant in town is 'Sukhothai' on Queen's Street.
They do the best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand itself. Cheap, too - I usually spend about £10 to £15 there for a great meal. They don't have a license so you can take your own wine/beer. I've become such a regular customer that the lady that runs it now brings me presents back from Thailand whenever she goes. Now that's service! Best thing on the menu is the marvellously titled 'Khao Pat Prik' that's a spicy chicken, chilli, pepper and lemongrass thing that's just out of this world. Great food, genuinely friendly people working there and cheap, too. What more could you ask for? ![]()

I am a few months late on the reply. I still haven't found one yet for non-veg that I liked. I remember eating at one awhile ago and complaining about the food to the waiter. I was like "you have been to India right?" and he replied "yes" and I then asked him "does this taste like any food you have ever had in India?" and replied "no" going on to explain that they change the food to suit the taste of locals. It was unlike any Indian food that I have ever eaten before. It was crap...I mean pure crap. ![]() I have found this List on the internet and will have to go through them until I can find one that is decent. If you find any that are good please post them, I am still searching. |
