And for the finest Chai this side of Delhi

If you make it to Glasgow you must make for Chai Ovna
Its difficult to find but its in in Otago Lane worth the effor to find

Really is a unique experience for drinking chai in the west
Amazing and a home from home for those of us dreaming of an indian summer while the rain steadily falls on the scottish western shores

I haven't been to India yet so I'm not exactly an authority on Indian food but Ron and I have been going to the same place for the last 4 or 5 Fridays in a row - Himalaya Restaurant on Main Street in Vancouver.

Masala Dosa for $4.99, Chicken Tikka $8.50, all you can eat buffet $7.99 and Mango Lassi $2.50 (Canadian). It is so delicious I am reluctant to try out any other restaurants...............hmmm , maybe we'll go there again tonight once I get off of work. All of this has made me hungry.........are you listening Ron????

Khyber Restaurant in Hotel Panchavati, Vakilwadi, Nashik, INDIA is my favourite restaurant at Nashik, my hometown.

Serves veg. and non-veg, Indian and Chinese. The entire cuisine is superb, try anything!

As a variation, apart from the usual A-La-carte stuff, it also offers non-veg. Thali meals.

Two good Persian restaurants in SF, Edward: Alborz and Maykelah. Both excellent; distance is the decision-maker here.

Edward, up the hill from me is a rare find: a Nepalese restaurant. Little Nepal has been open just a couple of months. I haven't been there ... because the Pakistani place delivers.

Thanks WW - less than a month to go!!!

Smilingbuddah, we'll check out the Chinese restaurant, it's close enough. We've been mostly going to the new Mr. Ho's that just opened up on Kingsway, very good if you want to check it out.

As an addition to my first post, Ron and I found another Himalaya restaurant (associated to the on on Main Street) in Surrey on Scott Road - it's even better than the one on Main!!!

No he didn't (but he made up for it by taking me on Saturday :-) We also went an supermarket and got frozen idli and masala dosa so I can get a fix whenever I want. Admittedly it's not as good as the homeade stuff but it'll do. We have been spoiled lately as people who work for Ron have been bringing in food for us to try. Many "aunties" have been sending us idli, aloo paratha, etc.

Instead on Friday, he took me downtown to the beach and to Bud's Fish 'n Chips. Which according to an article in the newspaper that I read this morning was shut down recently due to health violations!!! As well the Himalaya on Main was shut down last year. Oh well, I haven't been sick yet, good thing I have a strong constitution that will hopefully serve me well in India!!

Good practice for India, Missy T. Cardinal rule while travelling there is "NEVER ENTER THE RESTAURANT KITCHEN"
