Oh yes, I recognise it now from your picture but I did not know the name. They are available in Mumbai sometimes, not at shops but I have seen them sold at street stalls during the Mt. Mary festival.

Smile Malayam Kaja - Nellore

Anybody heard of a sweet called Malayam Kaja? Not much of a sweet lover but this one drives me nuts. Unfortunately I haven't found this outside Nellore. I googled it now to post an image but came up with nothing. Conceptually related to Kala Jamun but truck loads superior in taste. It's flat and fluffy, about 3 inches dia, well burnt outsides with grains of sugar smeared and soft inside, blackish brown in appearance. Sort of a cross between KJ & Malpuva.

Yes, Synanmous - Sri Krishna's Mysurpa is a complete Wow!

Cheers,

Yes Ignite, this is the sweet. The white sweet made of sugar is called matt in bengali. It is available in different colours also. Used mainly for puja (prashad) purpose. Tastes like sugar candy.

ya i have one-
mohanthaal( a gujarati recipe)-
take 4 cups coarse gram flour, add 1/2 cup of milk and 2 tbsp of ghee to it and mix it well till it resembles breadcrumbs and keep it for about 2 hrs. Then grind it in a mixer so that no lumps remain.
Then take about a cup of ghee, add the gram flour mix and roast on a low flame till golden brown.
Then take 3 cups sugar, add 3/4 cups water and boil till you get a sugar syrup such that when you adda bit of the syrup to some water it should stay as it is and not disperse into the water.
Then add the gram flour to the syrup, add 1tsp cardommom powder and mix well.
Then spread the mixture in a greased plate and then cut out squares when it colls a little(not too much, just about 5 mins later).

Chakka varatty & chakka payasam

This is something like halva/jam made from jack fruit...

We need to bake the ripe ones, then VARATTAL (don knw in english ) with sugar or vellam !!!

Chakka payasam, is again made of jackfruit. It is something like gheer.

ir-resistable
