inspired by the above post of mine in the strange hotel name thread idecided to take the plunge.

about this fukusa zusa - its available at the restaurant at the pink hotel in chakratirtha, puri. comes for about 60 bucks and is supposedly indonesian !! with a name like that i decided that i had to have it. what they served was basically fried rice WRAPPED all over by a thin omlette !! thats fukusa zusa. imagine a masala dosa wrapped ALL around the potato filing inside, without the usual holes at the two sides. similarly here a helping of fried rice is wrapped all over by an omlette.

whats the strangest grub or grub name that you have had in india ??

I had 'Bekel Bears' on toast in Jodhpur! Turned out to be baked beans on toast. They must have seen my amusement because one of their menus found its way into my pack.......

Yep, i would expect more dishes probably for reasons of spelling than anything else...!

Let me go home and take out some of those menus....

the menu of peco's bar/pub in bangalore did find its way into MY pack once. that was the day roger waters had his concert in bangalore. the "menu" was a list of "today's specials" written in a cd, as the inlay card.

Maharaja Mac™. We ordered them to go/takeaway and had a couple of cold King's beer waiting/instock from a recent trip to Goa .... and thus dubbed our newly found afternoon snack 'Kings & Maharajas'

Well, not in India, but on several Indian takeaway menus in Cardiff, Anakali Bahar is somewhat infamous in our circle for being ridiculously named. I've no idea what it is, but it sounds a plausible name for a UK Channel 4 news presenter. Eat your heart out, Zainab Bhadawi.

Beyond that, Klideney Beans remain a firm favourite, along with Red Gravy Milk Cream Tomato, both of which may be sampled in Bikaner.

Sorry. Maybe they were having you on/meant Iranian/Inuit/whatever (Indo-Asian Yes, sir, acha!)?

Loved the bekel bears on toast btw. So the billion dollar question: Wtf is red gravy milk cream tomato? (Lemme guess: Bolognese-cream sauce kofta sans spaghetti?)
