Salad days...

Lettuce.

At home I can't say I have a great craving for it, but in all my recent trips to India I seem to have the craving for a good fresh salad... so every time I order I live in hope of getting a nice mixed leaf salad, maybe some crispy iceberg or tasty rocket, a leaf or two of lamb's lettuce or curly endive.. but NO! All I ever get is raw white cabbage, a bit of tomato and cucumber and HUGE slices of raw onion.. what is all that about??

So my question is - where has all the lettuce gone.. is there any? If not why not? Would I be in trouble for sneaking in a few seeds and growing my own (probably) or have I just been going to all the wrong places!

thanks all
Sarah

I had lettuce and tomato sandwiches today and thought it was minging.

The lettuce was home grown. It generally comes up to edible size in around 4 or 5 weeks.

By the time you get your seeds and plant them you might as well just eat white cabbage!
