Restaurants reviews in India for travellers

I am a daily visitor to India Mike and like the topics of discussion here. I have an idea and I would like to share the same with you guys. Maybe we could work together on this. I am planning on making a website with all good restaurants from India. This will have all kinds of restaurants frm 5star to 1 Star. The only criteria will be good food / service. This site will have reviews from people who have eaten in the restaurants and what they think of it. What they recommend for first timers to the restaurants etc. I would love to hear your feedback on this.

i did send this idea already to IndiaMike.....he come withe the following answer. "Sorry I can't offer much more help on. I do have a review system on the site that I am switching the hotels section over to but I don't think I will add resturant reviews in there just because it's a mammoth undertaking. The hotels are hard enough with phone numbers changing, prices changing, etc..... ( http://www.indiamike.com/reviews )---just a work in progress."

And there is already a site called: http://www.mouthshut.com/read.php?cid=169 to be honest there is to much around I just want it straight for people who are in a hurry to find a restaurant on place and read the info from the restaurant.

Love to hear people's feedback on this....

Terry

Among other things

a) laborious
b) lots of people like hole-in-the-wall types in India
c) you might get sued
d) you'll get bored
e) almost without exception, all the waiters have dirty uniforms with even dirtier towels on their shoulders but the food is great
f) Every 2nd restuarant makes great food, damn difficult to compare!

<DD wonders why no one talks to him about ideas, afer he writes li(k)es this. >

Mmmm, yes...

Probably most of the eating places in India are much of a muchness, and it would be easier to note the bad ones as standing out. I think this is true of Chennai: there may be levels of crispness, but a dosa is a dosa, an idli is an idli and sambar is sambar.

eh? You obviously haven't eaten in my college hostel! We used idlis as door stoppers. hard as a rock and weatherproof. Even the rats in the canteen gave it a wide berth.

It can cause grievious body harm if used as a projectile which I had the good fortune to try, on the next hostel block chaps. Imagine an idli flying from the 2nd floor room, arcing like an white UFO across the sky and WHAM! into the victim in the next building.

Flour to Floor.

Those were the days.

I have been warned! Yes, I have come accross, err... less than optimal idli!

I've eaten vadai like that: you wear you teah away biting into the thing then burn out your tingue on the hidden piece of green chilly . Regretably, many people seem to think that this is how vadai should be, rather than the soft, delicious morsel thay can be.
