Pubs in pondicherry

Hi,
I am going to Pondicherry tomorrow. I am meeting up with some old friends of mine and none of us know the place. Any suggestions for the coolest bars/pubs?.

Since, we will be meeting after a long time, we would like to sit and chat and not have loud music. And we would like to drink really long into the night.

A cool place near the beach would be great. Please give me a reasonably cheap but good place and also a very good place.

Any other interesting things to see or do in Poindicherry?.

Talking Pubs in Pondicherry

Hi Kaushik,

Here i am glad, that i will be help to u.

The best pub / restaurant in Pondicherry are Rendevous and Le Bistro.

They are both close to the Arobind Ashram. so, u r going in a car, u can check with people around, and go to the place. If you are taking a local auto, they will be able to take you to the place.

Sat Sanga is a good vegeratian restaurant, again close to the ashram.

Rendevous and Le Bistro have all cuisine, and they have great sea food, great cocktails and cigars are also available. They r both expensive. Lobster is available, Rs. 100 for 100 gms...types, but, it is worth a try. Take ur credit card.

if u r the naughty types, and want to go to a cabaret, you can go to Hotel Mass. Some of my friends, who went there told me that the place is shady, but good.

Anything else, u need to know.

Hi Kaushik,

Can you please let me know whether Pondicherry is back up and running as per normal or whether it is still suffering the effects of the Tsunami? Is transport running along the coast?

I heard that it got hit hard by the wave?

Thanks!!

Talking Pubs in Pondy

Kaushik,

i forgot to tell u.

The Muttukad bridge on the backwaters on East Coast Road, which is in the outskirts of Chennai, i am told is cracked, and no vehicles ply on it.

Please check with localites if u can go on the bridge, or have to use a alternative route to get to ECR.

Also, tourism is back to normal, but, don't venture into the sea. Yesterday, there was a mild tremor in Chennai around 9.30 am.

Thanks a lot folks. And Aztec, the muttukad news is important. I will need to clarify somethings as I have a tricky itenarary. Will let you know about Pondicherry pubs.
Looks like it may not be all that great as I had imagined.

Is it ok, if I just sit on the beach and drink. Will the cops arrest me?.

Yo Dav,
Im in Pondi as we speak, and it's completely up and running. The tsunami hit the fishing villages hardest, the cities like Pondi, Chennai are relatively unscathed. Its the Cuddalore region that's most affected.
