peeled fruit

i have heard....if u didn't peel it then don't eat it< but yet i have seen pictures with scrumptious looking fruit at street vendors and in restaurants<buffet style>.
i don't understand how a natural thing like fruit could make u sick from beeing exposed to the air<peeled already?>?
anyone experienced this or is it just way to paraniod?

I don't know about peeled fruit on the street, I never say any. In resturants if it's peeled fruit it may have been washed with water and who knows what lies in that particular areas supply. Always a good rule to stay away from raw fruit or veggies you yourself didn't prepare. There are still HUGE amounts of tempting mounds of unpeeled fruits to choose from almost everywhere.
Don't be paranoid! Just use your common sense and you'll be fine!

Good luck! Enjoy your trip!

I'm an Indian and even I normally do not dare eat peeled fruit sold on the streets. Ditto for raw vegetables on the street (salted cucumbers, for example). This is for two reasons: One, the fruit / vegetable is exposed to the flies and germs in the open. Two, if at all they are washed, the fruits are washed in dirty water. Most of the vendors are kind of dirty too...
Better to buy unpeeled fruit/vegetable, wash it in clean water yourself and then eat it.
I would not trust the five-star restaurants on cleanliness either.
