Question Milk

my favourate drink is Milk, in india i often saw men on the streets selling milk, mostly early in the morning, this milk was in small soft plastic bags and there were about 6 different coloured plastic bags. (this was in south india)

is this milk steralized, is it safe to drink, and what do the different colours mean.

thanks.

Milk and or Dudh

Regular Milk, sold in the plastic bags is perfectly safe to drink. It is usually homogenized and pasteurized. I am unsure about the different colors, maybe it means less fat or something, but it is perfectly safe and I drink it often, though the little plastic bags make it tough for storage.

There is also the other drink "MILK" which is boiled and spiced in a big kettle and sold by vendors on the street. Sort of like a hot milkshake. It's cheap and delicious and back in the olden days it was sold in clay cups (like a flower pot) and after you finished drinking it the clay cup was ceremoniously smashed into the ground into little pieces. (some vendors still have this)
