Make noodle soup in your own room
Do you ever walk past all those lovely fresh ingredients in India and wish you had a kitchen?
Sometimes you just can't be bothered leaving your hotel room to have a meal, are tired of eating by yourself in a crowded restaurant, you may be sick, or just want something simple for dinner. Here's my traveller's hotel room soup recipe. Especially good for the cold, wet nights in Dharamsala. Need: Boiling water, (get one of those great water boiling elements for 50 rupees and a tin cup) a bowl, something to cover bowl Ingredients: bunch fresh coriander fresh ginger fresh baby spinach 1 egg 2 minute noodles Lightly beat an egg in the bowl. Throw in coriander, ginger and torn up spinach. Break up the noodles and add them and some of the flavouring (I find all of the flavouring a bit strong). Pour hottest boiling water over the lot, give a decent stir to break up the egg, cover and leave for 5 minutes. Yum. Add a squeeze of lime, chilli poweder if you like it hot, or any other vegies that just need to be blanched, snow peas would be good if you like 'em crunchy. |
