Mir Taqi Mir had a keen eye for detail
Aside, offtopic and maybe interesting... He was probably the best urdu poet of his generation, so good that the famous Ghalib composed a Urdu couplet which said "You are not the only master of the written word, Ghalib.. they say there used to be a Mir in the past"

So, man does not live by naan alone

But .....

The sun of life sinks fast behind the roof.
Do what you have to do, Mir; night comes on.

Check out the Afghani nan maker in Lajpat Nagar market in Delhi. Almost all Afghani settlers living in and around Lajpat Nagar buy their daily breads from this shop. The nans sold here are excellent.

Roomali roti is made from maida, so is Kerala Paratha. Tandoori roti is made from whole wheat flour and no oil is used; probably is the healthiest form of bread.

Offtopic and dunno for sure, but I always thought it was Nizmuddin Auliya who said,"hanooz dilli door ast" in response to the emperor Tuglak who wanted Auliya to leave Delhi before Tuglak returned there..

As it happened, the emperor died before he reached Delhi.

Yes Capt you are right.
Tughlaq had ordered Baba Nizamuddin to appear before him but Baba refused. Shortly after this the sultan had gone out of the capital to fight. When the sultan was approaching Delhi after the fight, devotees of Baba Nizamudding implored him to go away hiding as the sultan would surely harm Baba. To this Baba said that Delhi is very far for the sultan. While entering the capital the sultan was killed due to a structure breaking off and falling on his head.

Getting back to the topic..........

Prashant, Capt Mahajan & Jyoti-da

I did not realize that Roomali Roti is made from maida (coming to think of it that makes sense as it is pliable).

I have tried an interesting experiment. I mix 1/4 cup maida and 3/4 cup whole wheat chappati atta and made parathas with that. I shall try and see if I can modify the ratio in such a way that I can bake it and thereby avoid using oil !

Cheers
