I must have tea

I've been trying to find good masala tea back here at home in the States.

Why oh why are there TOO MANY CLOVES in every kind of chai or masala tea? Too much spice? Where can I find masala tea that tastes like what you get in India?

Use ordinary tea, and add a cardamom or two, and/or some grated ginger to taste when brewing.

Btw you get masala tea powder too, even in the US... but fresh stuff is better.

Yeh, just brew your own. There are any number of recipes in the Recipes forum (try a search), or on the web.

Try this one......

For one quart:

2 C water
3-4 whole cloves
1 stick cinnamon
3-4 green cardamom pods, smashed open with a blunt object.

Boil, and let stand on your stove for as long as you want.

To this, add 4 Red Rose tea bags, or 1/4 C loose black tea.

Let it stand on your stove until the tea has had a chance to really infuse, then add

2 C milk

Heat it all up, but do not let it boil.

Add 4 tablespoons or 4 cups ( ) sugar: you decide!

Let me know how it goes!

That's what I'm sayin. At Peet's they had a small spice jar 1/4 filled with loose masala tea and in that tiny amount was about 20 cloves. Blech!

I guess I will have to try to make my own.
