I know, but then they always seem to be either too wet or too dry. Damned impossible things! (And Zoeper, did you burn the house down yet? I was thinking that should give you duly puffy chapatis in any case.)

I got it fairly right at some point but can't even do a decent Dutch pancake anymore which could be argued to be remotely similar (and equally so simple that you wonder how the hell did I manage to screw this one up); my woman's very good at it, and I think it's her patience (as in your lurv) that does the trick really. Not too fast, not too impatient... She just takes her time for it. And lets the batter stand for a while, of course.

btw Fool, do you want Anderson or Iglesias in your neck now? None of my business of course, just had me wondering. Both at once might be something (or, er, a neckful I guess.)

LOL. I understand the feeling; not being much hung up on gender myself, my only reason to fill it in in my profile is my username would seem to suggest I'm a female.

Actually back then one's gender was shown on one's post profile (and much open to filling in anything you liked of course, as it is now; hey, I could still be a martian); today on this site it barely matters I guess, unless someone is really checking you out (are there any hot chicks looking for travel partners? Those types seem to rarely take the trouble to look up a profile at all though.)

It's often funny with the impression one gets of a poster and their posting style though in terms of location or backgrounds or gender or age or whatever, and how in fact this turns out to be wrong more often than not. I've learned to largely disregard it.

i am punjabi and I know how to make a real phulka which puffs up like balloon with its own steam. It is made of chakki atta and water and a pinch of salt in the dough.
PM me for the real deal on how this is done. I do it every lunch time and have done for at least a decade.

i make "prata" almost daily. the shape is always round. for the "prata" is the "heat and eat" variety. i did try to make roti by kneading and rolling tho. the shapes were bizzare. until i discovered the trick. use two plates instead of a rolling-pin to flatten the dough (press the dough-ball between the two plates that is) and then use a inverted bowl to cut out a perfect circle from the flattened dough.
