Most of the "Chinese" dishes available in Indian Hotels are not prepared the way they are in China. They are modified to suit Indian tastes, made a little more spicy.

Gobi Manchurian is an exotic name given to the common cabbage/cauliflower prepared in "Manchurian" style; to make it sound more exciting to Indian veggies wanting to try "chinese" stuff!

Much of the Indian Chinese cuisine is from chinese communities in India (eg: Calcutta chinatown). It is more or less 'fusion' and in my opinion more 'Indian' than 'Chinese' in most respects.

A Chinese friend of mine who is a great food lover and expert on Chinese cuisine tried Gobi Manchurian at the delectable Crab Key restaurant in Anjuna beach. She swears that there is nothing even remotly similar anywhere in China let alone the Manchurian heartland. And she agrees with me and many of us, that it has to be one of the best dishes anywhere in the world.

Gobi Manchurian is as Indian as the Tandoori chicken and we should change the name to some thing very Indian. Plus move it to the Indian section of the menu as some Indian only restaurants refuse to serve it as it is chinese . Any suggestions on the name

I go for gobi bijapuri
